-- this is where it had all started, at a park. they were all the same really. the all had playgrounds and perfect landscaping. a park was where she had met her ex. if only she could go back in change it. everything had been so different then. now here she was starting over in a new park. jessa walked slowly along the trail, keeping her eyes down just looking at her feet. it wasn't like her do be so depressed. maybe thinking about everything was good? she had been pushing everything to the back of her mind since moving here and trying ti jump start her writing career. so far things weren't going as well as she had hoped. her attention was diverted to two children jumping off the swings. oh those were the days not having any worries, thinking you were never going to grow up. when the children were called away by their parents, she sat down on a swing and gently pushed herself back and forth, not having the energy to actually swing. someone sat down beside her. great, that's all she needed was for someone to try to talk to her. but she put on a smile anyway and spoke a polite "hello."

Olivia finally had a day off from her original busy life. Being a full-time student and having a full-time job was exhausting and she couldn't honestly understand how people put up with it. She didn't dare complain though, she definitely needed the money and education. Olivia had woken up early out of habit and decided to go around town. The weather was becoming incredibly nice and she wanted to enjoy every minute of it. Olivia disliked cold weather and the fact that she lived by the lake didn't make cold days anymore enjoyable for her. Taking off her sunglasses and sliding them through her hair, she walked past a bunch of stores. Like any other girl she would of walked in and bought of bunch of things she didn't need but instead she forced herself to window shop. She knew she could easily come back some other time and buy them when she had the money.
After moping over what she couldn't buy, Olive finally decided window-shopping wasn't the best way to spend a day off. She walked away from downtown deciding the park would be a better option. Walking through the park proved so much relaxing than what she had been doing before. There were plenty of people out but most were either relaxing on the grass or playing on the playground. Feeling a bit childish, she walked over to the playground swings. Brushing some of the wood pieces they placed in the area from her sandals, she spotted the swing she always used to swing on as a child. There were so many memories there, it was ridiculous.
To the swing next to hers was a woman about the same age as her. She looked just as exhausted as Olivia felt and she pitied her. Olive sat on the swing next to her and smiled back, "Looks like we had to same idea on how we were going to spend the day." She laughed to herself and nodded to the woman while swinging herself softly back and forth. "I'm Olivia by the way."

"not exactly how i thought i'd be spending my day, but it's nice." maybe socializing wasn't so bad after all. "nice to meet you, i'm jessa." she looked briefly at the girl beside her. she was pretty and they looked to be about the same age. not that it really mattered. she did feel slightly better that she wasn't the only one who came to the park when there was nothing else to do. it was fun to people watch and the little kids were so happy. it was hard not to giggle at their silly antics. what she wouldn't give to be that young and naive again. and to have someone to look after her and protect her from getting hurt. now she was on her own and to be honest, the real world sucked. it was so weird to think that she had actually wanted to grow up and move out on her own. now she wished she didn't have so many responsibilities. jessa would never go back home though - there was no turning back now. "so what brings you to the park today?" jessa asked smiling, slowly swinging back and forth. today was going to be a good day. she had to turn her attitude around. she had been sad and depressed for far too long before today.
