LYRA CHANTAE SAUVETERRE Even though she had been here a few weeks, she was hopelessly lost. Nothing spelled out tourist like looking at a map. The foreign letters and symbols began to blur together, and she found herself becoming even more frustrated. She passed a hand through her mane of blond curls and found a nearby bench, taking a seat. This wasn't her idea of a good time. Not by a long shot. It probably would have been easier if she saw a familiar face, but the faces that she saw were as unrecognizable as the place she had moved to.
Shivering, she drew her coat tighter around herself. It wasn't particularly cold, but she did feel a smidgen better. The more she thought about it, the more she thought she would have been better off just going with the tour. Her brilliant excuse was that she had been in a hurry to get to class. She just didn't trust people and the last time she did, he had broken her heart. Her first love gone awry. Not long after she had basically told him to take a hike, she announced to her father that she was going to go to America to further her knowledge.
Not even that had been the full truth. She had come here to get away from the memories. Every time she turned around in Paris, she saw him. Her stomach churned, and she was soon burying her face into her hands like all was lost. Even after all the time that had passed, she still couldn't get him out of her head. What was so important about one guy when they were other fish in the sea, so to speak? No matter how much she tried to tell herself that it was for the best, the more it seemed she had made a terrible mistake.

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW if there was one thing shane really couldn't stand, it was this heat. pulling a hand through his messy brown hair, he finally forced himself to sit up. he'd been sitting on the couch in his hotel room for at least an hour doing absolutely nothing. he had no idea what to do or where to go in this town, and his whole brilliant original plan was starting to crumble to pieces. of course he'd told everyone he was just going on vacation, and he'd pick up that new ship crew job he'd been offered a couple days ago at the end of his days off. oh and it was by total coincidence that the girl who wouldn't leave his mind at ease happened to be going to school here. no, in reality he was actually here hoping to bump into her, seriously hoping he'd bump into her. crystal lake turned out to be a bit bigger than he'd somehow expected. the description he'd read on wikipedia a while back made it sound like a quaint small town with a lake. while it definitely wasn't huge, it wasn't exactly going to make it easy for him to just accidentally bump into a particular person. shane really should have expected this would all fall apart at some point. his plans never worked out in the end or if they did it was because something had gone scarily right. but there was only about a one in ten chance that this would happen to him, statistically speaking. even still, he rarely took vacation days and he couldn't let these slip past him. he got up slowly and stretched, staring at some cracks in the ceiling for a few minutes before pulling on his shoes, grabbing his wallet and heading out the door. the location of the hotel was perfect, in order to get anywhere really, he had to either go all the way around the crystal lake arts academy campus or cut through it, and of course he cut through it. even if he didn't see that blonde who'd broken his heart, there was always that hope she'd somehow see him. the campus was pretty deserted and quiet, with a few birds chirping here and there. he'd been told by someone at the front desk of the hotel to expect people staying in the campus area who were evacuated due to flooding, but nobody seemed to have moved quite yet. he walked for about a minute, with just the sound of his shoes hitting the pavement as company. as he rounded a corner, he was surprised to see someone ahead sitting on a bench. that someone looked incredibly familiar. squinting as he got closer, he had to stop himself from yelling to her at the top of his lungs. desperation wasn't a look he wore well. instead, he calmly stopped a good and tolerable distance in front of the blonde, lyra? he asked calmly, as if unsure she was truly there. perhaps he'd been pining so much lately that he'd somehow conjured up a figment of his memory.

LYRA CHANTAE SAUVETERRE She jerked at the sound of her name and lifted her gaze to meet the speaker's gaze. "Shane..." She said quietly, her breath catching in her throat as memories flashed before her very eyes. This wasn't happening, was it? She had run to the other side of the world, just to avoid this very moment, the inevitable moment when she would have to face him. How in the world had he found her? She had done an impeccable job of covering her tracks and now, this happened.
No, it had to be a bad dream, right? A sigh left her lips, and she looked back down at the ground. Her stomach continued to churn as she tried to think about what she could do to escape this would be disaster. "The last time I saw you, you were in Paris..." She mumbled, pinching the bridge of her nose as she exhaled noisily. Had he been following her? That couldn't be it.
He wasn't the type to do that, was he? She fiddled idly with the ends of her coat and glanced toward him once more, trying to discern whether or not she was imaging things. Anything was plausible at that point. She felt like she was about to be sick to her stomach. Nervousness hadn't ever been something that she handled well, not even when you thought she was invincible. She had learned a long time ago that she was far from invincible so when things got too hard for even her to handle, she cut her losses. The mere thought that Shane could have cheated on her had broken her down more than she expected, so she cut her losses with him, which meant she cut him out of her life, not even giving him the chance to explain.
She bit the inside of her cheek and rose slowly, secretly pinching herself. Well, she discovered one thing. She wasn't dreaming. Hell, she couldn't ever get that lucky. He dwarfed her like most people so even though she was standing, she still had to crane her head to look up at him. "Why are you here...in Crystal Lake? She wasn't about to be fooled into believing in coincidences, and a part of her was screaming that this fated reunion was far from coincidental.
Naturally, she listened to that portion of her. What else would she do? Her thoughts drifted as they always did, and she found herself closing her eyes as she basked in the warm glow of her memories. The time she had spent with Shane had been the happiest she had ever been, but it had come to a screeching halt. She forced him out of her life, based upon the word of somebody that she probably shouldn't have trusted as far as she could have thrown her. "...And I want you to be honest with me so don't feed me any lines about your...work." She clarified boldly, holding her head high as her mane of blonde curls framed her pale, freckled features.
