dimples appeared on ryan's cheeks as she smiled up at the cloudy sky. down in texas, if it was raining, it was still really hot and humid, but here in crystal lake, she noticed that the rain was cool and gloomy outside. for some reason it just made her happy, she loved how different this area was from her hometown. she had only been staying in crystal lake, illinois for a couple of weeks now, she and her twin have been living with three awesome roommates. ryan has noticed that everyone is just so nice here in the small town, where in the city she grew up with, nice wasn't always a common trait. a week ago, ryan may started a new job at the ward speed nightclub as a bartender. she would go through a couple weeks of training to learn all of the drinks, then she would be on her own. for now, ry has no idea just how long she'll be staying here in illinois, but so far she's loving every moment of it. it was time for another day of work, she was finally working until close, which meant a late night. she didn't mind though, she kept her optimism about everything always. she opened the big doors that entered into the nightclub, and walked inside the now familiar building. she was wearing a loose-fitting white deep v-cut t-shirt, with black skinny jeans and hot pink converse. her long hair was left down in dark curls. she flashed a smile and said hello to the few familiar faces she noticed. she made her way into the back room and put her jacket and purse away before walking over to the bar. it was only four in the afternoon, so the nightclub was obviously going to be slow. she looked around and noticed an unfamiliar face. throughout the week that she's worked there, she had never seen the tall, dark-haired broody boy. he was cute, too. she smiled softly and walked over to him. looks like we've never met. hi there, i'm ryan. she said cheerfully, as she flashed a big smile his way.

he wasn't looking towards work, it had always been the same. the same boring faces and lackluster conversation. nothing captivated him here in this colorless world. dad! i'm leaving, i've got work he called down the hall as he grabbed his leather jacket and slung it around his shoulders. not like you're even gonna hear me he added quietly under his breath as he stuffed his feet into a pair of worn out boots. it was always the same outfit, a white shirt, black jeans and leather touches in his shoes and jacket. his shabby long hair hung around his shoulders, slightly mused and messy, a little knotted but he couldn't be bothered cutting it. it was kind of like a way to hide away from the world, let people be weirded out by this all black figure with the deep eyes, and furrowed brows.
he headed into the bar, tossing his jacket in the back before he wandered back out the front. it was always quiet on a weekday, there was rarely a thing to do. so, grabbing a cloth he started wiping down the sticky bar top as others went about making sure they had the right amount of bottles, and everything was clean. except one, a girl, with noticeable dimples, and large eyes that seemed to take everything in with a new found excitement. his brow knitted together as she approached him and he stood straight, watching down his nose at her. she was shorter, by a good few inches, but most were compared to him. ryans a guys name he stated simple, his accent lacing each word. i'm jareth he threw out with a slight grunt, shaking his head as he turned back to the bar.

ryan may is a girl who has always dreamed of seeing the world, seeing more than just texas. as a kid, she was always watching movies about other counties, other cities. new york city was an obsession for a few of her teen years. she's afraid that if she were ever to visit somewhere like new york city, she would never come back. so for now, she's content with the new town she's in of crystal lake, illinois. ryan had always been jealous of people who grew up in small towns where everyone knows everything about each other - it had always been something she wished she could've done. city life was completely different compared to how it is here; not that ryan didn't love her life in the city. she just always longed for something more. for now, the small town life is fulfilling her dreams of always seeing something more in life. every day is something new and exciting here, and she couldn't be more ecstatic to explore and find out more.
more about this boy, perhaps. throughout her life, ryan had never really dated anyone. she was focused on her studies and getting out of houston. she had never been interested in distracting herself from her big dreams, so she never thought of finding love or bothering with dating. maybe now that she was somewhere new, with nothing to be distracted from, it was time to find love. or to attempt it.
the nightclub was exciting for ryan. back home, she never had a job because her parents had money and she was so busy with other things. now that she has been working as a bartender, it's so exciting to find out new drink recipes, and talk to the customers. it's the perfect job for her. she could tell this boy didn't seem exactly thrilled to be at work. she giggled about the comment on her name. yeah, i know. momma's southern and into that stuff. she shrugged. hey there jareth, how's it goin'? she moved to lean against the counter in front of him. she smiled at him, excited to learn more about him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-COLOR: #27131d; width: 400px; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px; border-style: solid; border-width: 4px; border-color: 403635;] Jareth hadn’t ever given travelling much thought, with the death of his mother; everything had been pushed aside, and looking after his younger sister where his father couldn’t, had quickly become his top priority. Wales was his home, there was nothing about the city he’d lived in that had made him want to leave at all. He should have travelled when he had the chance, should have left the town when he was given the opportunity, but now that he was out? He only wanted to go back there and forget everything that the world was doing to him. If he could have rewound time, and rewritten history, he would have – if that meant that he could see his mother one more time, for just a few more minutes. There was so much left unsaid, so much that he’d wanted to tell her, and talk to her about. Even telling her that he loved her once more, which would have been enough to close his mind about the entire situation. But instead, he was stuck with a father who was hardy paying any mind to either of his children, instead he was delving deeper into his fantasy worlds, and ignoring anything that actually made sense.
He’d only started work so he could get away from his family, change everything that was happening in the home and actually look after himself for a while. His father was ignorant, and paid no mind to what he actually did. So finding himself working behind this bar until the wee hours of the night, was enough to set his mind at ease. It gave him something to do that he enjoyed, something that took his mind off of things that were terrorising his life. Or the thoughts that crossed his mind of what he could have done to stop the death of his mother – if only he’d gotten in the car that day instead, she’d still be here with them.
I don’t get that whole… “Southern” thing, is that an excuse for giving you a guy’s name? it doesn’t make any sense. he retorted, bluntly, his eyes narrowing slightly in distaste as he shot a glance in her direction. it’s going…alright, I suppose he murmured, definitely not interested in making conversation with someone he didn’t even know. why are you looking at me like that? he glanced over his shoulder just in case she was watching someone behind him, but no. it was just him, and she was starting to weird him out. shouldn’t you be working, or something?

family is a huge part of ryan's life. not just because she comes from a big family. she has a huge heart, with room for every single person that comes into her life. she has always tried to help people in some way, she goes out of her way to make people smile. because really, what's life if you can't make people happy? what is the point in living life being miserable, you're only going to hurt yourself in the process.
there's a lot of things that ryan noelle may doesn't quite understand in life. she's a very smart girl, but some real-life problems leave her absent-minded. she doesn't understand how people can hurt others. she doesn't understand serial killers or why people randomly shoot others. she doesn't quite get the whole drug addiction thing, or sex addiction. i guess you could say that ryan's somewhat naive to the big bad world out there - and it could be a pretty big reality check when she has to realize how bad the world really is.
southern wasn't an excuse for anything, she couldn't help but giggle at his comment about that. no, it's not an excuse. didn't say it was. my parents are just into odd names, i s'pose. she said with a shrug before looking around at the empty bar. she couldn't wait for a night when it would be insanely busy. brows scrunched as ryan was a tad confused. looking at you like what? i'm just smiling, you should try it sometime, broody. she flashed a small, nervous smile. there was something about jareth that was intimating to ryan - she had never met someone who actually made her nervous. but somehow, he was doing so. oh, yes, let me tend to all of the people that are here ordering drinks. she laughed a little.. i was told you're training me tonight, so, what do you want me to do? seeing as we don't have customers, i have no way to learn drinks. teach me? she looked over at him with hopeful eyes before quickly looking away - getting nervous again.
