So far Fae was surprised to find a disappointing shortage in interesting things to see. She'd been in Illinois for five days now and she seemed to be following an orbital pattern around the streets. Not that the streets weren't pleasant but she was a slave to luxurious treatments. Spas, beautiful sights, boat rides. Anything that made her feel relaxed and calm. Illinois seemed short on that type of thing, but from all the American TV shows that aired at home it seemed like they had luxury around every corner. This was her first time in America though, so maybe she just needed to get used to it. She was brushing up on her English too. "I will have the poultry sandwich?" she asked the person working at Hartwood bakery. The person looked confused, which made Fae worry that maybe she had her English wrong.
She pulled out her phrasebook and started digging for the word for 'chicken'. She only knew it as kurczę. "Kurczę?" she tried in the desperate hope that it sounded like the real world. The blank expressions of the staff was enough to tell her that the plan wasn't working. At this point there were at least four people she could hear behind her telling her to hurry up. Her hands were swiftly moving the pages of her phrasebook, scanning the food section. She found the word for 'fish' but what bakery offered a fish sandwich? Fae squinted in frustration and finally lifted her hand in surrender. "It does not matter, thank you." she said to the staff and could hear the breaths of relief as she walked away. She could hear the ringing of the cash register behind her moving a lot quicker now she wasn't there, which made her feel bad.
It was a shame that she needed to improve her English, because she'd heard that Luke Emerson was here in Illinois at the moment. She paid a lot of money just to get the channels that he played on in Poland. She was a long-distance crush of his. She was hoping to actually meet him while she was here. Maybe even try to cover one of his games, once she picked up the language a little better. "Chicken!" she finally saw it on the page of her phrasebook. "Chicken! Gr." she said as she saw how long the line was now. It wasn't even worth going over for the chicken sandwich now. At least she could remember it. Kurczę = Chicken, got it. She took a seat on a bench just outside the bakery, wondering what to do next.

THIS IS HOW YOU REMIND ME OF WHAT I REALLY AM [div style="width: 400px; padding: 11px; text-align: justify; font-family: times new roman[br"]; font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; background-color: #white; color: #black;] taking pictures was something that miles had loved to do since he was thirteen and was given one of those disposable camera's by his mother so he could take pictures while he was on a field trip to the zoo. he literally took pictures of everything he could until the tape had ran out and he couldn't take anymore. that was the day that he realized he wanted to be a photographer when he was older. after that day he started to mow lawns around the neighborhood, babysit his cousins and just do random little errands for everyone just to make some pocket change. he saved every penny he made and when he was sixteen, he finally bought his first digital camera. since then he had gotten a real job and of course saved the money for an even better camera, and then he finally was able to get one just two days ago. he hadn't bought his camera until late at night and he had to work early the next morning and by the time he had gotten home from work, he was exhausted. so today was the day he was going to finally be able to go out and play around with his new camera. he woke up early just so he was able to go out and get some pictures of the sunrise and then he went to the beach to take some, then finally he ended up in a park with a wooded area where he could take some pictures of nature; his favorite thing to capture. he got a few really good shots and he was just excited to get home so he could sit down and review everything he had done. he knew that if he had gone straight home though he would just forget to eat because he was too distracted with his camera. so on his way home he decided to stop in at the bakery, one of his favorite places to eat because most of it was sweets, and he sure as hell had a huge sweet tooth. when he arrived there was already a line formed and there was a woman in front who seemed to be from out of town and spoke another language. she was really pretty and he noticed she was having a hard time. all he heard was poultry and when she just got up and left he was confused. couldn't they understand she wants a chicken sandwich? even if they couldn't understand sandwich, they should have been able to recognize poultry as chicken and guessed it had something to do with chicken. he watched the woman just give up and then go outside to sit on a bench. he smiled and looked down at his shoes as he waited until his turn. when it came to him he ordered a muffin for himself and then a chicken sandwich as he looked out and saw the woman still sitting there. he smiled at the cashier as he handed him his money back and a small bag filled with his purchases. he stuffed the money down in his pocket and then walked out the door slowly before pulling out the sandwich. "uh i heard you back there.. you meant a chicken sandwich right? i mean they were pretty dumb back there not to realize what you were trying to say." he knew he probably looked like a creep, but he was just trying to be nice, because well.. that's just the kind of guy he was. Fae was still flicking through her phrasebook, a little shaken in confidence from her experience. If she couldn't order a sandwich then how was she meant to survive the next three weeks? It didn't seem like she would. She had a good grasp of the grammar and language, she just occasionally lost prepositions or conjunctions or words that don't tend to come up in regular conversations. The rest she was fine with. "My acorn is missing." she rehearsed and enunciated slowly, trying to get the pronunciation right. The next random sentence she found, she tried slower. "I - have - a - stomach - ache" she pronounced. Of course with no judge to check she was saying it right, who knew? She hoped it wasn't like the French language. The slightest mis-pronounciation and you always seemed to end up calling someone a whore.
Fae was surprised to find a male approach her, only because people hadn't seemed very friendly since her arrival. She had been checked at the airport and it was an experience she still didn't like to think about. Apparently Fae looked like she might have been smuggling things in unmentionable places. So her overall impression of America so far hadn't been a great one. A soft smile blossomed on her lips as she took in the man's kind posture. She could already tell she liked this man, he had a nice quality to him that she hadn't seen in anyone else since she arrived.
"Chicken sandwich yes! I struggle with the word 'chicken', silly I know." she laughed slightly at herself. Her eyes widened when he pulled out the sandwich and realized what he was doing. "You are giving me sandwich?" she asked, slightly swooning over his kindness. "I do not know what to say, thank you." she had the biggest grin on her face. Her day had just been made.
