the sun rises on another cool winter morning in crystal lake, and the lake seems still and untouched but one of you have stumbled upon a beaten, bloody and dead body and now the police are swarming the area, looking for clues as to the mystery of what happened. one of you will have found her, another will have seen the hooded figure leaving the scene the night before, some of you were enemies of hers, and some were close friends. you've all somehow made you're way to the bay this morning, whether for a stroll, or whether you're coming to see what you can find out on your own. you're all joined in one way or another, and each of you need someone you can talk to. some scared and helpless, others nervous for what they could possibly know. you're all in for the ride of your life.

| [atrb=border,0,true] linus remembers the face of the girl. the way it looked when he saw her there. the way her hair was messy and tangled and how her bangs had blood on the tips of them. linus remembers the blood and how there was so much of it on the rocks. those rocks, they were so clean and innocent and made of the earth. why were they stained with blood? all red and dark and toxic. not the blood. not the blood of the girl who could have been anyone--the girl who could have been clean and innocent and made of the earth. he found her there. he remembers.
the police are still asking him questions and they've asked him a million already. they've been asking him for so long. he's told them everything a million times. aimee. breakfast. mall later.
"who's aimee?" "where were you going for breakfast?" "why were you here so early?" "what mall?" "who's this girl?" "do you know her?" "where were you last night?" "can you prove it?" "you're a student, what's your major?" "did she go to your school?"
linus tells them everything a million times.
aimee's the girl he's supposed to meet at the lake so he can take her to breakfast. they met up early because he's a morning person and she wanted to go shopping later on at the mall in crystal lake. he doesn't know the girl he found, he doesn't know, stop asking. last night he was talking to aimee about this morning, yes he can prove it, look at his laptop, the messages are still up. he paints. he doesn't know the girl. he doesn't know the girl. please stop asking.
this was supposed to be a good day. he's supposed to flirt with aimee all day and give her his coat later on that night when she says she's cold. he's supposed to order a breakfast sandwich with bacon and eggs and cheese from the bakery. he's supposed to order three cups of joe for the pretty girl and tell her how pretty she is all morning, that's what he's supposed to do today.
not this, not remembering the bloody face of the pretty girl thrown in the rocks by the lake.
not this.
anything but this.

crystal lake was only a few minutes away from olive's house. it was sort of routine for her to pass by the lake everyday no matter where she was going. if she were going shopping, she would pass the lake. if she were going to school, she would pass the lake. for all her life she had always lived by it and nothing ever went wrong. the worst crimes she ever heard of were car accidents but nothing too serious. but today wasn't a normal day at crystal lake. early morning, she had decided to take a walk and enjoy the nice winter weather that was suddenly occurring. to her surprise, the lake was surrounded by a curious crowd of people and lots of police tape. olive couldn't believe it. just yesterday night everything was perfectly fine when she passed this way. what could have possibly happened in a few hours? her first worries were that a kid drowned or something in the lake but she didn't want to think of someone dying. this town was small, what if she knew the person? olive moved slyly through a few people to get closer to the area, the police were blocking it off pretty well but she could still see. she turned to the closest person and asked what had happened. they didn't even look at her, instead they kept staring at the scene. they found a woman's body dumped over there. olive looked in the direction they directed her to and she felt an odd sensation. sort of like chills except worse. olive remembered passing by their yesterday night. she loved walking by at night, it was always peaceful and no one was ever around. she stared, olive could of possibly witnessed the events that occurred to this. it was cooler at night around here so no one ever bothered to come at night but she did. walking along this area, she remembered spotting a figure standing close to the rocks doing something she couldn't recall. they wore a hooded jacket so she couldn't make out who they were. they never noticed here and now that she thought about it, they walked right past her! the sudden thought that she had gotten close to whoever did this to that woman startled her. olive was just glad she didn't get to curious and inspect. she wouldn't be able to handle finding a dead body. she pushed through a few more people and approached an officer hoping some information would help. the only person she could see being questioned seemed exhausted and afraid. she was sure he had found the body. "excuse me.." she managed to say, her throat suddenly becoming dry. the next few minutes passed and she found herself behind the tape being questioned by officers as well. she had completely underestimated the situation. olive really didn't want to be here anymore but if she left she would have quite a toll on her conscious.

The night before, Manette had heard a struggle outside. The house she shared with her husband was by the lake, he was at work. She heard screaming and writhing around on the sand. She heard fierce sounds of bashing and grunting. Manette had believed it was just the neighbors tv at first. And when she finally went over to her window to see what was happening, she looked over the lake and couldn't see anything. So she had returned to her original conclusion - that the neighbors just had their tv on a little too loud. It was plausible they were watching a horror or an action film and it was loud enough for Manette to hear it wouldn't be the first time. It was about 1am when this happened. Manette had been wrapped in a dressing gown, a short nightie underneath. She went to bed soon after.
When she woke up, she heard a commotion even louder than the night before. Only this time it wasn't sounds of violence, but sounds of talking. Urgent talking. Some voices sounded forceful, some sounded scared. She got up out of bed and went to the window again. Police were everywhere, Manette was scared. Scared because now she started to believe something really had happened last night. She got dressed quickly in whatever clothes she could throw on and ran outside. She stayed near the back because she didn't want to see anything. She was just trying to hear to see if the police knew what had happened. Apparently they didn't but they were interviewing someone that might know. That struck Manette as suspicious but she hadn't heard the full story. In fact she was nowhere near where the interview was taking place. She was just listening to the idle gossip of the people at the back of the crowd.
As it slowly dawned on her that the girl had been murdered, Manette took slow steps back until she could feel the back of her legs hit rocks. She sank down into the sand, paralyzed by the thoughts of what might've happened last night.

come away little light COME AWAY TO THE DARKNESS Tobias Michael Grant was just on his way for some coffee. It was a fine morning and he had planned to just enjoy the day. Maybe even say hello to the few people he knew. All he had in mind was a nice stroll along the lake. He had been there quite often, only to walk around the place and enjoy himself. Clear his mind of the many ideas and future plans. There weren't simple. More easier said – or thought- than done. However, Tobias was sure to get there someday. He was sure to find his actors and helpers, maybe even someone who could help him get more into the industry. If only.
After a moment of pondering on the idea, Tobias had decided to go on over by the lake before fetching his coffee and mingling a bit. It had been a good place to get inspiration, just because it was a good spot to be. However when he had showed up to his original spot, police were surrounding the area, along with a flock of others – standing around, not knowing what had just jumped in the way of their day. The man furrowed his brows and looked about the area before going up to the crowd to see what was up. It hadn't been good.
Tobias stared at what he could make out from his distance before he could squeeze his way closer. A young girl lay, bloody beautiful and damaged by the lake, on the large rock. Completely exposed and wasted. He couldn't believe his eyes. Squinting at the young figure, his eyes widened at the reality of it all. He knew this girl. He had met her just the night before that day arose. He remembered listening to the girl as she spoke, walking her home. However, only halfway. He remembered having to leave her when he reached his apartment.
This must have happened that night. It was such a shame. She was a sweet girl, and didn't seem to be of any harm. They had spoken of his ideas then and he had asked her opinion. Tobias' mind went berserk at that moment. He had met this girl! What was her name... He was racking his brain trying to remember until he knew that he would be questioned for it. Especially since he had been with her the night before. He shook his head, veering his eyes away from the horrifying scene and took a few steps back before anyone could stop him.

olivia didn't realize how difficult it was to be in this situation. she had spent years watching crime based television and never thought she could end up in a situation like this, a witness even. what made it worse was she was only a few feet away from the body. olivia was just glad she didn't recognize her or things would of been much worse for her. she was a beautiful girl and it was horrible to see how distorted everything made her. her hair was in a tangled bloody mess around her face and the rocks and she had several cuts and bruises. the chilly winter air combined with the loss of blood made her a bluish gray color and it was incredibly sickening to look at. olivia looked away and moved away to where she couldn't see her. the officers had stopped questioning her after getting a sketch done and left her for a while. she stepped away from the scene, disappearing into the crowd again. she knew if they needed her they could just find her. but for now she couldn't stand that close to the scene. she was short of breath and the image of the body made her queasy. olivia found a nearby tree and leaned on it, attempting to stop her involuntary urge to vomit. she had such a weak stomach and now that that poor girl's image was stuck in her mind, she didn't think she could eat for a while. she watched the crowd of people, some were whispering to each other and others were staring blankly at the scene. olivia just wondered how many people knew this girl or even unintentionally witnessed the events of last night like she did.
