promise i'm worthy to hold in your arms -----working a double shift was never a delightful thing to do, particularly one a beautiful sunday evening. tonight, matilda found herself in this predicament. one of the staff called in sick and the manager asked her to fill in for him; while most people would complain about a situation such as this one, tilda was beholden for the opportunity to even have one. needless to say, with an incredibly gregarious smile on painted on her face, she began to wait on tables. time seemed to fly by; between taking orders, chatting with costumers, and cleaning every so often, minutes turned into hours within the flicker of an eyelid. the nineteen year old found herself near closing time when another customer waltzed into the slider diner. while wiping down a table, she heard the door open and smiled slightly. "i'll be right with you," she informed the person before looking up to see their face. once she realized who it was, her smile grew a little wider at the corner of her lips. "hey you," she told him comfortably, moving aside so that he could have a seat at the table she had just cleaned. she did not wait on him often, but she had seem him come around frequently. "how may i help you?"

im glad you came. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#af9ea8; padding:0px;] while duke had been busy in the studio all day, finally, he was now able to relax. later, shaun. thanks for the day he called over his shoulder, as he tugged open the glass doors that led out into the parking lot. the sun had sunk well beneath the trees, and the street lights were finally turning on. fishing his keys out of his pocket, duke wandered down the ramp to the footpath, glancing over cars, until he spotted his red lancer, parked near the curb. most expected him to have gone and purchased himself some expensive, glitz car, that would well outshine any other in the area. but he hadn't, he chosen comfort and familiarity over the rest. just like the diner. he mightn't have been in the town long, but the diner had a very homely fee to it, comforting at least. he'd tucked himself away in the car, and takn the short drive across town to the place. it was lit up brightly, with neon lights in the window showing that it was open. sure, it might have been late, he'd lost track of time while he was recording some new material - but at least it was open. he headed inside, the door swinging shut behind him, and he embraced the warm atmosphere from within. the chatter was to a minimum at this time of the night, and he didn't feel as though everything he was doing was being watched. he headed towards the familiar girl, 'matilda' her name tag read, and a smile fell over his lips as he watched her a moment, listening to her, before she noticed him. hello yourself, hope it hasn't been too rough of a night for you he took a seat at the table, and leaned back against the cushioned seat. could i just get a beef burger with the lot, and a small coke, if you don't mind, matilda? offering her a sheepish grin, he settled in at the table comfortably.
