She had finished a semester and was still studying her text books over the summer, but for now, she was free. Free to relax and maybe if she was lucky score a drink from the beach hut. Although she doubted it, she supposed soda would do just as well. Sighing softly at the thought she closed the corvette's door behind her. Sticking her hands into the back pocket of her jean shorts, after tucking her keys away as she walked across the warm sand spotting the familiar hut bar/restaurant.
Tugging her hands out she, also cleverly avoided sitting on her keys, because frankly, ouch. Pulling those out as well she set them on the bar in front of her, her legs pressed against the fake bamboo as she kept her legs crossed gazing up. "Hotdog and coke Jerry," she called out. Div would fish out the bills later. Brushing a hand through her hair she tilted her head to the side and sighed softly gazing out across the beach. It was quite populated that day with school just getting out. Naturally, but the water. It had never looked so clear and inviting. Biting her lip she shifted, later perhaps. Gazing back forward she noticed the coke now sitting in front of her as she fished out her straw sticking it in before taking a long refreshing drink.
"Mm.." she mumbled softly.

| [atrb=border,0,true] It was a nice day, the sun was shining and not even Madelyn could deny that it would be better to stay indoors rather than outdoors. She wasn’t the biggest fan of hot weather but the beach sounded very promising. She had made her mind up after having her third cup of iced coffee, leaning against the kitchen counter staring at the scenery outside the window. Not a lot of people were roaming around her neighborhood but the distant whirring noises made her believe they were smart and decided to just stay inside and enjoy the air conditioner. She walked over to her room and opened her closet, wondering what she could possibly wear to the beach. A bathing suit was a must but her shorts were buried underneath the heap of winter clothes she still had out. She put her bathing suit aside as she looked through the pile for some decent shorts. Eventually she found a pair of old jeans she’d ended up cutting the legs of to make into a pair of shorts. Madelyn praised herself for doing so, if not she would have been in that pile forever. Madelyn’s shih tzu, Sophie, came sprinting her way and almost knocked her down as she pulled on her bathing suit and shorts. She had completely forgotten that she hadn’t taken Sophie out for her walk.
Getting out Sophie’s leash and locking the door behind her, Madelyn took her puppy out for her walk. The puppy’s tiny legs had given up after their second stroll around the park so Madelyn had ended up carrying her all the way back home. She sighed walking into her cool apartment again, setting out food and water for her dog as she grabbed her car keys. Muttering a small goodbye to her dog and locking the door behind her, she walked over to car and got in. Turning the car on and driving off, Madelyn felt sort of weird. Whenever she used the car she usually was either going to school or running errands. She hardly ever went to the beach; it wasn’t really her kind of place. She would have much rather sat at home with her dog but today just seemed like a good day to go. Finally arriving at the beach, she parked and shut the car door lightly as she walked over the gravel. Her flip flops made a scratchy sound as they hit the ground and she was almost relieved when they hit the soft, grainy sand. She reached down and took them off, sinking her feet into it and wiggling her toes. It was a soothing feeling along with the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Holding onto her flip flops, she walked over to the bar a few feet away. She watched everyone laughing and having fun with a smile on her face, pushing her sunglasses back up her nose.
Sitting down at an empty seat at the bar, she kept her attention on the people at the beach. It reminded her of her high school days when her and most of her friends would head down here to have relax and have fun. She missed her high school friends; they all seemed to have drifted apart. Most of them finally had the guts to leave Crystal Lake after graduating. Madelyn liked it here; she didn’t really have any intentions on leaving. She turned in her seat and called to the guy behind the bamboo counter, ”Just a coke please.” She dug in her shorts for the exact change and left it on the counter in front of her, her attention now on the blonde next to her. She seemed oddly familiar and her voice was too but Madelyn didn’t want to be all creepy and stare at her. Instead she glanced over at her a few times before coming to a conclusion. It was Divya. The fact that she couldn’t come to that conclusion earlier was sad. She had practically been her best friend for life. But, Madelyn still looked away wishing she could become invisible. There was a reason she was her best friend. Madelyn wished she never revealed her true feelings for the girl. It only led to rejection and eventually them not talking because of how awkward it was. The guy handed her the coke and she took a long sip, she knew there was no way to escape talking to her. And she wasn’t about to make the drive back home over this.
